Frames Direct is one of Ireland’s largest manufacturers of PVC and Aluminium Windows and Doors for the trade, having grown to now have three manufacturing facilities.

Frames Direct’s Challenges
- With over 300 employees working in the manufacturing process – robust systems were crucial
- The algorithms used in the design of Windows and Doors required a lot of computer power
- They were going through a period of rapid growth and needed to have a Storage solution that could deliver the speed needed and be nimble enough to allow expansion when called for.
- The Back-Office function had to deliver to the Manufacturing Equipment in the Factories in real time – with no bottlenecks
Solution
Trojan installed a new HPE Aruba Core Network with 10gigabits Fibre Backbone at FD’s Headquarters. Into this Core we attached two HPE DL560 Performance Server Hyper-V Cluster with real time failover and a Staged Image Backup solution.
Using Microsoft’s Server 2019 Datacentre Storage Spaces Direct we were able to create a virtual SAN for FD’s 8 Virtual Servers – providing little lag and real time failover.
All Compute and Storage were connected to the Core at 2x Channel 10gigabits and highly redundant power is delivered using APC’s Symmetra LX 16kva N+1.
